She's Crafty

Cooking experiment for the month!

Alright!  May 1st is already upon us and I have been thinking for the past month that for the month of May I would try out 3 new recipes a week.  First I thought I would try to cook 5 new recipes, then I thought no maybe I better do 4 and now I have resolved to do 3!

Tomorrow is Planting Day

Last year I planted my first garden from seedlings, but this year I am going to try my hand at starting from seeds.  Tomorrow morning, weather permitting, I am going to plant broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, zucchini squash, corn, and watermelon.  I have a small garden about 4 X 14 next to my house.  I will be getting eggplant and sweet potato seedlings to add to the mix and some herbs as well.  I am using the "Square Foot Gardening" method.  Happy Planting (and weed pulling--this was my biggest problem last year.)

Corned Beef and Cabbage
I find myself cooking the same meals over and over again, last week in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, I made Corned Beef Brisket and Cabbage.  I have to say, it was great!  I felt like a grownup.  This is something my parents make, not me, a thirty-something mom!  Below is the recipe I took from Women’s Day.  And YES, I will be making this next year to celebrate my family’s Irish heritage.
