Hi and thanks for visiting my blog! I am a thirty-something mom and wife. My daughter Ella was born at the end of 2009 and our son will be born at the end of June 2011. Did you do the math? Yes, that’s right—18 months apart--exciting and scary all at the same time. My husband Shawn is a great, good looking guy who I find myself more in love with everyday. I am married to my soul mate and best friend.
I grew up around Indianapolis, IN and I guess I can say I was spoiled. I took ballet, tap, jazz, gymnastics, piano, singing, tennis, golf, acting, and cheerleading lessons. In fact I did most of these activities until I was 18. I graduated from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN, and moved to Chicago to start a profession in selling wine—much to the delight of my family and friends! I loved that job but after almost 4 years I decided to go to seminary. What is seminary you might ask—I know I did—it’s a school where you learn about God (the God of the Bible to be exact.) Louisville, Kentucky, is where I attended the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and upon graduation with a Master’s of Divinity, I accepted a job at Southeast Christian Church (a megachurch with over 20,000 members) in Guest Services, where I find myself today.
I love lots of things and would describe myself as a passionate person. I love to travel and in fact have been to 29 countries and most states in the United States. I love being crafty—making cards and scrapbooking, and I enjoy entertaining—decorating, cooking and baking. I love pets, food, clothes, jewelry, home décor, and basically anything girly. Reading novels, magazines, theological books, leadership/business books, and studying the Bible are things I do each night after Ella goes to bed. Lastly, I love taking walks and every where I’ve lived this has always been my favorite pastime. If I could fill my days with these things…..that would be the perfect life.
Life however has different plans for us. I don’t know why but God didn’t intend to make our lives easy. I chose to name this blog “Wanderer” because I can relate to the Israelites who wandered around in the desert. They were slaves for over 400 years in Egypt until God gave them the freedom to go to the Promised Land. They were wandering for 40 years in the desert trying to get to the area that God had promised them. God took care of them, provided for them, and even performed miracles on their behalf yet they were unsatisfied, complacent, disobedient, and complained all the time. Unfortunately, this last sentence describes me! God always gives me just what I need but it isn’t good enough. I always want more.
The Wanderer is going to talk about my passions but it is also going to talk about my struggles and how God is molding me to become the person I need to be so that someday when I do reach the Promised Land I will be grateful, trusting, obedient and full of faith! Are you ready to WANDER with me? Let’s go!
